Premonition
I saw it coming...
Review:
Allen F.

The
second installment of series on LGF.
Premonition
is the second installment in the Japanese J-Horror series of
films that are going to be released over a period of time. The
next film coming in the series will be "Reincarnation"
and it is releasing in the near future. "Reincarnation"
(aka Rinne) in Japan was Directed by the extremely popular Takashi
Shimizu. I have been keeping tabs on all these releases both
the Japanese and US versions for some time on the Kyonsi news
pages.

After
being very impressed with the first installment in the J-Horror
Theater Series film Infection I was excited about Premonition.
Premonition
delivers a good story about newspaper articles that predict
the future in a sense. If one man that now has this ability
sees a paper that lists something like the death of his own
daughter in an accident it does indeed happen just like the
mysterious paper says. This film has mystery content as well
as straight horror elements. The main character finds out he
was not the first one to have this strange ability to see the
impending dooms the future holds for people in its articles.
He then goes on full on investigating the paper and past people
that had the same abilities and the problems it caused them.
He also becomes obsessed with changing the future demise of
the victims he has foreseen the deaths of in print. A well done
film with great acting and a really clear picture presentation
on DVD. The sound is also great and the budget seems to have
been good as it has a big picture fell not a B-Movie feel to
it.

Writing
words in your own blood is a sure sign of insanity.
Premonition
has some horrific moments and you do end up caring about the
family involved and other people in the storyline. The effects
are really cool as well and there are some great extras that
show how they did some of the high end film effects. I found
the extras on the special effects to be very informative and
entertaining. Next up as mentioned in the J-Horror Theater series
will be "Reincarnation"
(aka Rinne) and I again am looking forward to hopefully
another great film in this series. This series is extremely
better than some of the current Asian Horror flooding the US
DVD market. Recommended!
Very
Special Thanks to the Lions Gate Publicity Dept. for making
this feature possible. |
