The
Eternal Sifu returns in another era...
Review:
Allen F.
Again
the eternal Sifu Lam Ching Ying Returns to use his Taoist powers
to suppress a chinese vampire infestation in our world. This
time Lam (Sifu) fights the dark vampire family brought back
to life by some idiotic cave explorers. The film takes place
in the modern era unlike the original Mr. Vampire. The comedy
element is high in this film as it is in the other Mr. Vampire
saga Films. This time we have a little vampire boy (aka cute
vampire kid) that befriends and plays with some children that
hide him in there closet. The parents also reawakened are searching
the city for there child who is busy playing and spooking other
kids from the neighborhood. Lam and his funny students of the
arts have a hell of a time with the vampire parents that are
wreaking havoc on the locals and even are hopping across cartops
at one point. Lam and crew work with all their Taoist arts to
combat the vampire family yet are somewhat compassionate to
the little vampire boy, egah hes very annoying. Included in
the film are a few very silly in jokes you can catch easily
in the subtitles. We also see more of the Taoist magic and spells
used to combat the vampyric Chinese undead. This is by no means
as good as Mr. Vampire this film is good but not great. Moving
it to the modern era with the cute vampire kid was not as fun
as the unspecified era of the original Mr. Vampire. Lam and
Yuen are great together. Pauline Wong from Mr. Vampire returns
as the Female Kyonsi (Hopping Vampire), and Chung Fat is always
good in a film. The next in the series Mr. Vampire 3 is better
and back on track. Despite its being a bit mediocre Mr. Vampire
Part 2 still a fun film and a must have for fans of Lam Ching-Ying
the Eternal Sifu.
