This cool 40 min vampire flick by Kitamura is a action packed little story. An about to close military installation is visited by a group of soldiers that claim to have the Spear of Longinus, that pierced christ when he was crucified. The object is in legend able to heal and has magical powers. But when one of the group recently bitten by a vampire (They walk the earth in this film) is healed all vampyric hell breaks loose in the installation. This leads to some good action as well as horror scenes. Not at all scary but alot of fun and like "The Messenger" (reviewed below) has an assorted cast of actors from a few other Kitamura action-horror flicks. This is highly reccomended and features a real life Japanese goth musician as one of the key players in the story. Playing the dark stranger that is.

Ghosts, Guns, Gangsters and Goths...
Ryuhei Kitamura's Short film "The Messenger" is a dark look into what may happen after death. This slickly filmed short offers acting from Tak "VERSUS" Sakaguchi and some other Kitamura film regulars. This is highly reccommended for Asian horror and cult film fans as well as Kitamura fans. This short is part of the Jam Films movie from Asia. The film deals with a attractive Japanese goth type girl that comes to deliver some bad news to some holed up local Yakuza in an old building. Short, effective and mysterious this little flick could almost have been expanded to feature length yet works well as a short film. Look for familiar faces from Versus, Sky High, Longinus, Battlefield Baseball and Azumi. This is a must add to your collection short.
