black witchery is back again...

Tjut Jlalil was at it again back in 1992 with yet another bizarre
Indonesian Horror-Cult offering. Dangerous Seductress recently
released on DVD from the always enjoyable and definitely impressive
Mondo Macabro DVD is available this month.
The
film is based in Indonesia and starts with a action packed car
chase scene that has some extreme firepower being exchanged
between different individuals. This is the result of a jewel
heist we find out later. This leads to machine gun mayhem along
with some bloody dismemberment. All happening outside a large
mansion like house.Then it gets into some hocus pocus with black
magic. As blood drips from leaves at the accident scene onto
a magical item that causes a severed finger left overlooked
at the scene to reanimate. The finger then crawls into a magic
pillbox type thing thus causing blue lightning and the resurrection
of a naked good looking brunette. I shall mention that this
film causes some laughter from time to time and even more than
most films. The nudity in this film is obscured with glowing
bluish orbs that look really funny when floating or illuminating
the actresses nipples. Also these orbs cover the gals butt and
other privates as we see alot of body and cleavage yet strangely
no straight nudity. I guess that was for the export? Maybe they
thought the nudity would not go over well out of Indonesia,
I have no Idea but the orbs are silly (see image). The mansion
is home to a fashion model and her badly abused sister from
Los Angeles goes to stay with her to escape an abusive relationship.
The acting is not good but I am really enjoying this Indonesian
attempt at horror mixed with erotica. The gals are sexy but
on the erotica scale it is B grade.
The
sister gets into a black magic book that belongs to her sister
and like an idiot reads aloud and resurrects the brunette in
the woods or is it cave? Its kind of confusing in that scene
and the black magic broad shows up in the mirror. She of course
promises things like immortal beauty and removes some road rash
on the chick from a recent beating before her flight to Asia.
The film then goes thru scenarios most of that have been seen
before in other films of trapping men and bloodletting then
to feed the demon witch bitch the blood. After a certain amount
of feedings the blond will be immortal or something like forever
beautiful. This leads to stalking gross guys at cheesy bars
for victims and luring some teenage boys to there deaths in
a meat packing plant teasing then all along about some sex and
then killing then for their blood.
 
All
this is done while in various stages of sexiness yet as I say
again no real nudity, yes we do see the glowing nipples again
on the possessed blond this time. The facial makeup is done
well and the contacts and fangs look very good. Also the early
resurrection scene is very cool with the still semi deteriorated
witch rising from the ground and there is the usual colored
lightning, glittery magic effects, and all together fun to watch
(and laugh at) special effects . The pool playing scene is a
great reason for the lead actress to show off her more than
ample cleavage, its a must see scene. Animal lovers beware of
a chicken scene and a fake dog beheading. I did like the scenes
with the shaman or voodoo priests but these scenes are very
brief. Unlike most other south east asian films that have much
more black magic element . This flick spends alot of time on
wannabe eroticism and not enough on the magical combat front.
The images of Bali here are file footage I think as the possessed
girls sister does a photo shoot in Bali. The file footage does
show some really cool temples though. The ending is a bit of
a "what the hell was that" type closing but that did
not surprise me at all.
Mondo
Macabro DVD like always does a great job with the extras offering
a new transfer, special effects commentary, director interview,
informational texts, a filmography, and some great trailers
for some of there other great DVD releases.
 
This
is sure as hell not another "Mystics In Bali" though.
This film did not go that deep into the black magic folklore
of South East Asia. I got exactly I expected babes, black magic,
orbs on boobs, a crawling finger and some blood. A very fun
film for a party and a must have for the collector of asian
horror and camp film alike. I don't think it was made to be
campy but it sure as hell ended up that way. I like this film
and am glad it is now available on DVD, I am hoping more of
the hard to find Indonesian oddities get released in the future.
Clap your hands for Mondo Macabro and keep the Indonesian horror
coming.
