Up for Battlefield Baseball...
Review:
Allen F.

Battlefield
Baseball (aka Battlefield Stadium) is one of the funniest films
I have seen in some time. The new US version released by the
up and coming company Subversive Cinema is awesome. I am happy
to report that the DVD is flawless and is highly recommended
to fans of extreme action, horror and comedy. Way beyond the
comedy of Hong Kong's "Shaolin Soccer" this baseball
film is more extreme and violent but at all times funny and
tongue in cheek. The film is directed by Yudai
Yamaguchi and Produced by one of Japan's number one directors
Ryuhei
(Versus, Sky High) Kitamura.
This is a must see it too believe movie.

The story is about as you probably have guessed baseball and
baseball teams. The only thing different about this story is
unlike some boring baseball films of the past this one is a
Japanese horror comedy. The film comes complete with hilarious
(blue faced) zombies and ball field carnage. The storyline is
an entertaining no brainier about a guy that the team needs
to recruit to beat a team of zombies that has decimated the
team in the past. The evil Gedo High zombies team are ruthless
and play to the death. The film does not portray real baseball
but as in the title Battlefield Baseball that results in games
ending when all the members of one team are brought to submission
by death. Tak Sakaguchi from "Versus" and the upcoming
"Death Trance" plays Jubeh a boy that has sworn off
Baseball yet must be recruited to help the good guys Seido High
beat those living dead goons from the Gedo High team. This film
also has a slew of hilarious resurrections as not all people
killed playing Battlefield Baseball stay dead.

Jubeh has a weapon of pitching called the Super Tornado that
defies science as we know it. The other members of the Seido
team also after being killed return to life as the undead to
fight the other evil undead's on the Gedo team. After they are
resurrected by some means unknown they also have super powers
helping them in turn kick some zombie ass. Yes an outrageous
and funny film. Like I said a no brainier but a hell of alot
of fun. The short film about the Boy and his quest for soup
is also a treat and silly as hell. Need a good laugh then Battlefield
Baseball is all you need. A great job from Subversive Cinema
and at Kyonsi we hope they bring us some more Asian DVD oddities.
Get the DVD today before you get nailed with the Super Tornado
pitch.
